KeyNote

So, what exactly is KeyNote? Originally developed as part of the KompoZer project, KeyNote is an open source application built using Delphi 3. While its full development officially ended in October 2021, the story doesn’t stop there. In July of the same year, iLearning Corp. took over development, focusing specifically on bringing KeyNote to Windows Mobile devices. The company shifted its attention to next gen Windows Mobile apps, which is why the original version was discontinued.

Even though KeyNote started as a Windows Mobile app, it quickly became popular among users of Windows CE and Windows XP Mobile devices. Its main purpose? To offer a super simple way for people to browse the internet directly from their phones. With just a few taps, users could jump online, play audio and video games, and even share files between their mobile devices and computers. It was all about making connectivity easy and accessible.

Interestingly, iLearning Corp. initially considered releasing KeyNote as freeware but eventually introduced a one time fee for commercial use. That said, you can still find it available for free online. To get started, you’ll need to register your mobile device after that, the installation process is straightforward and only takes a few minutes. One of the best things about KeyNote is its user friendly design. It’s intuitive, minimalistic, and doesn’t overwhelm you with complicated menus or buttons.
