TreeView X
Hey everyone, just wanted to share my thoughts on the latest release of Treeview X for Windows. The beta version 0.5 is now up for grabs over at Rod Page’s web hosting site. It’s interesting to note that the package name is listed as "Linux," which might cause a bit of confusion, but don’t let that throw you off this is a Windows native application. For those familiar with tools like XSitePro, you’ll notice some similarities since both are geared toward website viewing and management.
What really stands out with Treeview X is how smooth and intuitive the user interface feels. It’s clearly built with Windows users in mind, making it super easy to drag and drop files or folders wherever you want. The software then reorganizes everything based on your preferences. Beyond just browsing, you can watch videos, play MP3s, and even tweak how webpages look. There’s also a pretty solid help section included, with step by step guides to get you up and running quickly.
That said, it’s not all perfect. Treeview X is still missing a few key features that some of its competitors offer right out of the gate. I noticed a slight lag when loading full pages, and sometimes the thumbnails don’t resize or align properly with the rest of the content. These aren’t deal breakers, but they’re worth keeping an eye on. Also, some of the more advanced tools are locked behind a paid upgrade. Hopefully, future updates will smooth out these rough edges and expand what’s available in the free version.
All in all, if you’re looking for a straightforward, user friendly file and website viewer for Windows, Treeview X is definitely worth a try especially while it’s still in beta and free to download. Just go in knowing there’s room for improvement as the software evolves.
