Total Overdose

If you're craving a wild, over the top action game with a Mexican twist, look no further than Total Overdose. Released back in 2005, this third person shooter throws you into the boots of Ramiro Cruz, a former criminal turned DEA agent on a mission to avenge his father’s death. And trust me, he does it with style.

Inspired by the open world chaos of GTA, Total Overdose drops you into the fictional town of Los Toros. It’s not a completely free roaming playground some areas are locked behind story missions but there’s still plenty of room to cause mayhem. Drive stolen cars, blow stuff up, and unleash chaos as you please. The vibe is pure arcade fun, not serious simulation.

What really sets this game apart is its focus on flair. The more creatively you take down enemies, the more “Loco Points” you earn. Use them to trigger absolutely ridiculous special moves like pulling guns out of guitar cases or summoning a luchador to beat down your foes. It’s clear the developers were fans of Robert Rodriguez movies, and that energy is everywhere.

Graphically, it’s definitely a product of its time. Don’t expect slick visuals cars are blocky, characters look a little rough, and the world feels dated. But that also means it runs smoothly on pretty much any modern PC. No need for a fancy graphics card or tons of RAM. At just over 1GB installed, it’s a lightweight blast from the past.

The story isn’t going to win awards it’s your typical revenge tale but that’s not the point. Total Overdose is all about action, attitude, and absurdity. It hasn’t aged perfectly, and some stereotypes might feel outdated today, but if you’re in the mood for chaotic, stylized fun, it’s still a ride worth taking. Not convinced? You might also enjoy the even crazier Saints Row: The Third or the spiritual successor Chili Con Carnage.
