Resident Evil 4 - Separate Ways

If you thought you knew everything about Resident Evil 4, think again. The freshly released DLC, Separate Ways, which dropped on September 21, 2023, pulls back the curtain on a side of the story you’ve only glimpsed before. This isn’t just extra content it’s a full blown narrative expansion that lets you step into the stylish boots of Ada Wong, the mysterious operative who’s always playing her own game.

In Separate Ways, you’re not just replaying events from a different angle you’re uncovering a whole layer of espionage, betrayal, and hidden agendas that run parallel to Leon’s mission. Ada’s got her own objectives, her own allies (and enemies), and her own gadgets. And yes it all ties back into the main story in ways that will make you see Resident Evil 4 in a whole new light.

So what’s new? Plenty. You’ll revisit iconic locations like Salazar’s Castle, but you’ll also access brand new areas like the Gregorio Waterway and the Comms Facility each loaded with secrets, puzzles, and of course, plenty of infected villagers who aren’t too happy to see you.

Ada’s signature grappling gun isn’t just for show. It completely changes how you navigate and fight. Zip across gaps, perform stealth takedowns, or yank enemies off balance mid combat. It’s fast, fluid, and seriously satisfying. And when things get tense, her high tech I.R.I.S. lens helps spot hidden clues and environmental hints that are easy to miss with the naked eye.

But here’s the catch you’ll need the base game, the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4, to jump into Ada’s story. It’s a standalone expansion, meaning it slots right into your existing game after the latest update. No messy installs, no compatibility worries just more Resident Evil, exactly how you like it.

Performance wise, the DLC follows the same requirements as the main game. At a minimum, you’ll want a Windows 10 (64 bit) system with an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Intel Core i5 7500, 8GB RAM, and something like a GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 560. For buttery smooth 60fps at 1080p or if you want to crank up those ray tracing effects aim for a rig with a Ryzen 5 3600 or i7 8700, 16GB RAM, and at least a Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1070. Ray tracing itself calls for even beefier hardware think RTX 2070 or RX 6700 XT.

All in all, Separate Ways isn’t just filler it’s essential playing for anyone invested in the world of Resident Evil. More story, more action, more Ada. What’s not to love?
