Machinarium

Ever played a game that feels like you're living inside a beautifully crafted comic book? That's Machinarium for you. It’s a point and click puzzle adventure developed by Amanita Design, and it hit the App Store back in October 2021. What’s cool is how it plays across devices on iOS, you're tapping away on one screen, but if you're on OS X, the game spreads out over two monitors, doubling the fun and the challenge.

The goal? Well, you get to "fish" or "shoot" your way through enemies using all sorts of tools bows, spears, arrows, you name it. And it’s not just mindless tapping. Each enemy type has its own strengths and quirks, so you’ve gotta think on your feet. Things get even trickier when you’re managing weapons on two screens at once. As you unlock better gear, the puzzles get tougher, keeping you hooked and your brain buzzing.

But Machinarium isn’t just about gameplay it’s got heart, too. You play as Mako, a robotic dog living in Metropolis with his owner, Professorvaam. Life’s pretty chill until rogue robots start causing trouble, and Mako teams up with his buddy Po to save the day. The story unfolds in a future where humans once lived on Mars but had to abandon it. Now, Megatronus (yep, that Megatronus) leads the Decepticons, and in a twist, creates Bumblebee to protect Cybertron. But when Optimus Prime gets captured and brought to Earth as a robot, things really kick off.

Enter the Renegade a shadowy figure who swipes the Omega Supreme Egg from the Decepticons and uses it to build six powerful robots that start wreaking havoc on humanity. Megatronus catches wind of the plan and decides it’s time to wipe these bots out for good. This gives humans a shot at stopping Megatronus once and for all. Meanwhile, the Autobots are racing against time to use the Omega Supreme Egg which holds the Matrix of All Creation to save the universe.

So at its core, Machinarium is a tale of two sides clashing, each with their own motives and dreams. It’s not all black and white, though there’s depth in the storytelling, and the music pulls you even deeper into its unique world. If you love puzzles wrapped in a rich, sci fi narrative, this one’s a hidden gem.
