BlueGriffon

If you've ever needed to convert a Word document into a clean, web ready HTML file, BlueGriffon might just be the tool you're looking for. It's an open source web editor that follows the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) approach, making it super easy to create and edit web pages visually, without needing to dive into code. Originally stepping in as the successor to the now discontinued NvU editor, BlueGriffon has built a solid reputation in the open source community.

One of the coolest things about BlueGriffon is how feature packed it is right out of the box. It comes with detailed documentation to help you get started, plus a range of handy add ons like pre designed templates, a calendar, an address book, and even a directory service. It’s worth noting, though, that it doesn’t include a password manager, so you’ll want to keep that in mind if security tools are a priority for you.

To start using BlueGriffon, the first thing you’ll need to do is install its browser window. Once that’s done, a "start" button should pop up on the right side of your browser clicking it launches the editor with its startup configuration. If you don’t see the button, no worries just head over to the "Tools" menu and select "browser" to get things rolling.

When you’re inside the editor, you can begin by setting up a content layout or picking a color scheme that matches your style. The "Layers" dialog lets you tweak colors from a dropdown, and there are plenty of themes to choose from. After that, it’s time to pick a template. BlueGriffon offers both basic templates (simple solid backgrounds) and custom ones, where you can define everything from fonts and sizes to borders and colors. This flexibility makes it a great choice whether you're building something simple or designing a more polished, personalized webpage.
