Bing Desktop
Starting in July 2021, Microsoft made a big move by replacing Yahoo! Search with Microsoft Bing as the default search engine on all Windows PCs. If you're using Internet Explorer, you'll notice that Bing takes over as your go to search tool. The new interface looks a lot like what you’re used to in Internet Explorer, but it’s now built right into your desktop. Don’t worry, though this change doesn’t lock you into using just one browser. You can still hop over to Firefox or Chrome whenever you want. It’s all about giving you options while keeping things familiar.
You might be asking, "What’s the real difference between Bing Desktop and Internet Explorer?" Well, if you’re a casual user, you might not even notice. The experience is pretty much the same especially if you’re already used to browsing on a Windows machine. But if you dive deeper, you’ll see that Bing Desktop comes with its own set of features and a slightly tweaked interface depending on which version you’re using. Want to make Bing your main browser? Just look for Internet Explorer in the options on the Bing homepage it’s that simple.
One of the coolest additions in the latest Bing Desktop is the Microsoft Groove jukebox. Imagine being able to check your emails even when you’re away from your computer pretty handy, right? You can organize your inbox by categories, add labels, or even set up a custom search bar to find exactly what you’re looking for. And if you’re trying to track down an email from someone specific, just pop their picture into the search bar. It’s a small touch, but it makes finding things so much easier. This Groove feature is just another way Microsoft is trying to simplify your digital life.
