Touhou Fumo Racing

If you're into quirky, fan made games with a heavy dose of anime charm, you've got to check out Touhou Fumo Racing. This totally free racing game is the brainchild of indie dev HonkyHood, and it’s basically a love letter to the Touhou Project universe. Think Mario Kart, but packed with characters and vibes straight out of the classic bullet hell shooters that defined the franchise.

The setup is simple: pick your favorite Touhou character, hit the track, and race your heart out. You can go head to head with AI bots or squad up with friends though right now, multiplayer caps at four real players per match. But if you're flying solo, you can crank the bot count anywhere from 2 to a chaotic 100. Yeah, it gets wild.

Gameplay is all about staying in first and making the most of those power ups scattered across the course. Some items unleash screen filling bullet patterns that’ll feel instantly familiar if you’ve ever played a Touhou game. It’s a fun, lighthearted twist that keeps races unpredictable.

Visually, Touhou Fumo Racing doesn’t take itself too seriously and that’s part of its charm. The graphics are colorful, playful, and full of personality. You’ve got your standard quality settings (low, medium, high, ultra), but the devs also threw in a “potato mode” for anyone rocking older hardware. Seriously, if your PC can run Windows, it can probably run this.

That said, Touhou Fumo Racing is very much a niche passion project. It’s got regular updates and a dedicated developer, but it’s not trying to dethrone Mario Kart. If you’re already a Touhou fan, you’ll feel right at home. For everyone else, it’s a cute, casual racer with a unique aesthetic perfect for a few laughs with friends.
