Risk of Rain 2: Survivors of the Void

Get ready to dive back into the chaos, because Risk of Rain 2 just dropped a massive new expansion: Survivors of the Void. If you’re already a fan of Hopoo Games’ roguelike shooter, this DLC is about to take your runs to a whole new level literally. A mysterious gateway has torn open, flooding the world with corrupted void creatures that are dead set on plunging everything into darkness. And guess what? It’s up to you to fight back.

The expansion doesn’t just tack on a few extras it seriously expands the game. You’re getting new stages to explore, fresh gear to unlock, and two completely new survivors: the Void Fiend, a high risk high reward character that shifts between forms, and the Railgunner, a long range specialist who doesn’t mess around. Each brings a totally different playstyle to the table, so whether you like getting up close or picking enemies off from a distance, there’s something here for you.

And the loot? Oh, the loot. Survivors of the Void adds 14 Void items, 4 Lunar items, 18 standard items, and 5 new equipment pieces. That’s a lot of new ways to build your run. You’ll also encounter 9 new monsters, 3 big bad bosses, and 2 elite enemy types that will definitely keep you on your toes. The new environments Aphelian Sanctuary, Sulfur Pools, and Siphoned Forest are just as wild and visually striking as you’d expect from this game.

That said, it’s not all smooth sailing. With so much new content, some players have noticed a few balancing hiccups. Items, enemies, and even the new survivors feel like they’re still being fine tuned.
