SmartSniff is a versatile tool designed for monitoring and analyzing IP traffic across networks. Although it's specifically available as a freeware download for Windows, preliminary tests on a Windows system suggest promising functionality.

With SmartSniff, users can intercept and record various data packets transmitted through their computer's network adapter. These include ICMP Echo Requests and Responses, TCP packets, ICMP Packet Flow, TCP Source and Destination Addresses, and more. Captured data can be conveniently saved in the Documents folder or exported to an FTP site for detailed analysis. The software's comprehensive logging capabilities allow users to set different logging levels, including error, warning, and critical levels, to suit their monitoring needs.

Among the notable features of SmartSniff is its ability to log traffic across all interfaces or save it for offline examination. Users can also configure the tool to monitor all incoming and outgoing traffic on a specified WAN interface. This flexibility makes it suitable for capturing packets from a variety of network devices, such as wireless and wired adapters, routers, modems, and more.

For enhanced functionality, SmartSniff includes an optional "loop capture" module.
