The environment here is more water logged and swampy than what we saw in the base game, which not only looks stunning thanks to 4A Games’ incredible engine but also impacts how you navigate and engage with enemies.

One of the coolest things about Sam's Story is how it introduces new weapons and gear. Along with trusty firearms, you get a nifty wrist mounted gadget that helps detect traps and environmental hazards super useful when you’re sneaking through enemy territory. The expansion encourages creativity, letting you use the world around you to gain the upper hand in fights. Stealth is just as important as firepower, and every encounter keeps you on your toes.

In terms of length, you’re looking at around 6–10 hours of gameplay, and that’s not even including side content. There are multiple endings based on your choices, so replayability is definitely there. And yes, you’ll need the base game of Metro Exodus to play it no standalone option here. It’s available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and while it runs decently even on older systems, playing it on a rig with Windows 10 or a current gen console really makes the visuals pop.

Is it perfect? Well, some parts can feel a bit rough around the edges voice acting and pacing aren’t always consistent but if you loved Metro Exodus, this expansion is absolutely worth your time. It’s more than just filler; it’s a heartfelt, action packed side story that honors the spirit of the series while trying something new. Definitely a must play for fans of story driven shooters.
