MDK (Murder Death Kill)

If you're into classic games with a modern twist, MDK Murder Death Kill might just be your next obsession. This rogue lite version takes inspiration from the original PC title, which itself was a reimagining of beloved classics like Resident Evil and other cult favorites. While the original had its charm, it wasn’t without flaws especially when it came to level design. It was fun for its time, but it didn’t quite measure up to some of the bigger names in gaming back then.

The game was brought to life by Shiny Entertainment, with a little help from the folks at Radical Amusement. It first hit Windows thanks to Shokwave, then made its way to Mac OS and eventually the PlayStation. Publishing was handled by PIE in North America, Shiny Entertainment in Europe, and Sega in Japan. One of the standout features everyone raves about is its use of the Unreal Engine the same tech behind many of today’s blockbuster games. It’s no surprise that review sites have given it solid marks for its visuals and tech chops.

Now, here’s the catch: to dive into this game, you’ll need to grab a program called "uana". This little tool unlocks widescreen mode on your computer, letting you experience the game as it was meant to be played. Once you’re in, you’re thrown into a fast paced world filled with richly detailed 2D scenes. Some players find the controls a bit tricky since you’ve gotta coordinate your eyes and movements, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a blast. The graphics and sound are pretty impressive, though some might say they’re a tad over the top. All in all, it’s a wild ride that’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of action packed retro vibes.
