Genie Timeline

If you're looking for a hassle free way to protect your files, Genie Timeline might just be the tool you need. It’s a free, user friendly backup software that works quietly in the background, automatically saving copies of your important data without requiring constant attention. While it does have some limitations like being best suited for personal or light professional use its biggest strength is its simplicity. Setting up a backup takes just a couple of steps, and you’ll have peace of mind knowing your files are safe.

To get started, open the Control Panel on your Windows computer. From there, navigate to Network settings and select the option to scan for devices. You’ll see a list of computers connected to your network right click on the one you want to back up, choose Properties, and look for the Genie Timeline icon near your hard drive information. Clicking this will open up your backup options.

Once you’re in, you’ll notice two tabs: one for your main Genie Timeline directory and another for additional files or folders you might want to include. On the right, under the "backed up" column, click the icon link. Then, on the left, select the folder symbol and use the small arrow next to it to customize your backup selections. You can create as many timelines as you like, but it’s a good idea to stick with consistent naming so you don’t accidentally overwrite or delete something important. And just like that, you’re all set!
