Floppy Knights

Get ready to meet your new gaming obsession! Floppy Knights is this incredibly charming Windows strategy game from Rose City Games that brilliantly mashes up two of my favorite genres: turn based tactics and deck building. It's like someone took the strategic depth of games I love and wrapped it in this adorable, colorful package that's just impossible to resist.

The story kicks off with you controlling Carlton who's not your typical hero, but actually a bionic arm created by Phoebe, this super smart inventor trying to make it on her own. Your whole mission? Help Phoebe earn enough cash to finally move out of her parents' basement by taking on all sorts of weird jobs and battling some seriously quirky monsters. It's that perfect blend of relatable life goals mixed with fantasy adventure that just hooks you right in.

What really makes Floppy Knights stand out is its genius card system. You get to carefully build and customize your deck, choosing which knights and abilities to bring into battle. Then, when you're ready, you deploy your carefully crafted army across these beautifully designed battlefields. The strategy feels deep but never overwhelming it's that perfect "easy to learn, tough to master" sweet spot that keeps you coming back for just one more round.

Visually, the game is an absolute treat. The hand drawn art by Marlowe Dobbe (who also worked on Dicey Dungeons) brings this whimsical world to life with its retro tech aesthetic and magical elements. And the knights themselves? They're this wonderfully diverse crew ranging from brave little goblins to sassy potted plants yes, you read that right, fighting succulents! Each character has so much personality that you can't help but get attached to your favorite units.

What I love most about Floppy Knights is how accessible it feels without sacrificing depth. You can jump right in and understand the basics immediately, but there's so much strategic nuance to discover as you play. It's one of those games where you start playing thinking "just one quick battle" and suddenly it's three hours later and you're still tweaking your deck and trying new strategies. If you're into tactical games or deck builders or better yet, both this is absolutely worth checking out.
