Wearing headphones to bed? Sounds cozy, but you could miss important sounds a phone ringing, an alarm, or even someone at the door. Stick to one wake up time, too. Erratic sleep schedules mean you might snooze right through urgent calls, messages, or emails. And never hit the sack right before your day is supposed to start it just sets you up for a rushed, messy morning.


Timing is everything. Don’t try to sleep when there’s too much noise or light, or when you’re feeling uneasy about safety like leaving a window open in a sketchy neighborhood. Basic needs matter, too. If you’re thirsty, hungry, or really need to use the bathroom, solve that first. Trying to sleep through discomfort never works.


Boredom isn’t a good lullaby, and neither is trying to memorize something last minute. If you share your space, consider sleeping alone to avoid interruptions or accidentally turning a bad dream into a group event. And if anxiety about life or worse, death is keeping you up, address those feelings. Sleep should be restful, not restless.
