The game kicks off with a solid training level that gets you comfortable with both old school muskets and sci fi blasters. And honestly, the story hooks you right from the start it’s like a mix of history class and a sci fi thriller.

Visually, Darkest of Days isn’t going to blow your mind it’s definitely a product of its time. Character faces look a little stiff during dialogue, and some textures up close are kinda blurry. But hey, it’s not a deal breaker. Where the game really shines is its sound design. Gunshots echo, explosions rumble it all feels pretty immersive. Some voice acting is a bit cheesy, but it adds to the charm in a B movie kind of way.

Gameplay wise, it’s a hybrid. Part classic FPS, part on rails shooter. Levels are heavily scripted, so don’t expect open world freedom but that also means the action stays focused and intense.
