Dark Stories: The Workshop

If you're into bite sized horror experiences that get straight to the point, Dark Stories: The Workshop might be right up your alley. Developed by Voodoolew Studios, this free indie game throws you into the shoes of an unnamed mechanic who’s stuck working the night shift at a creepy auto repair shop. Things take a turn for the worse when you show up late and realize your coworker Gary is nowhere to be found and something else is lurking in the shadows.

One of the coolest features here is the optional VHS filter flip it on, and the grainy, distorted visuals seriously dial up the tension. At first, you’re stumbling around in near total darkness until you manage to find a flashlight. From there, you’ll explore the workshop, picking up notes and random items that hint at what went wrong. It’s all about atmosphere, and the sound design does a lot of the heavy lifting every creak and distant noise keeps you on edge.

Your goal is simple: get out alive. But there’s a catch an unseen, aggressive presence is hunting you. If it catches you, you’re sent right back to the start. No checkpoints, no second chances. That might sound annoying, but it actually fits the game’s short runtime. Most players finish it in under ten minutes, so even if you die, you’re never too far from another attempt.

Dark Stories: The Workshop isn’t trying to reinvent horror it’s a straightforward, spooky escape room style game with a strong vibe and some legit jump scares. If you enjoy games that prioritize mood over complexity, this one’s worth a look. Just don’t expect to stay long the workshop isn’t a place you’ll want to hang around in.
