Dark Descent [DEMO]

If you're into games that mess with your head, you've gotta check out Dark Descent [DEMO]. It’s a free PC horror adventure created by Stefan Vorster, and it pulls you right into the mind of a war vet who’s seriously struggling. The whole thing plays out in first person, and from the second you start, you know something’s off voices echo in your head, your own home feels like a trap, and reality starts to blur into some seriously creepy hallucinations.

What’s cool about this demo is how it builds atmosphere. It doesn’t rely on cheap jump scares instead, it crawls under your skin slowly. The sound design is unsettling, the visuals are intentionally disorienting, and you really feel the weight of the character’s crumbling mental state. It’s dark, it’s immersive, and honestly? It’s pretty effective for a short demo.

Just keep in mind this is only a taste. The demo is super short (like, maybe 15 20 minutes), and it’s clearly a prototype meant to tease what’s coming in the full game. But if psychological horror is your thing, Dark Descent already shows a ton of promise. I’m definitely keeping an eye on this one.
