Basic Biking
If you're into simple yet addictive bike games, Basic Biking might just be your next casual obsession. Created by indie developer Otto Ojala, this free 2D side scroller leans heavily into physics based movement, giving it that satisfyingly realistic feel when you’re pumping the pedals or flying off a ramp. The retro pixel art style adds a charming, old school vibe that’s easy on the eyes and pairs perfectly with the straightforward two button control scheme tap one button to pedal, the other to balance. It’s the kind of game you can pick up in seconds but might take a while to truly master.
You’ve got seven handcrafted tracks to tear through, each loaded with obstacles like jumps, loops, and tricky slopes that’ll test your timing and rhythm. And yeah, there’s a clock ticking so no lazy rides here. Once you’ve conquered the main stages, there’s an endless mode to keep you grinding, plus a couple of unlockable rides like a mini bike and an e scooter that change up the feel of the gameplay.
That said, Basic Biking isn’t exactly overflowing with content. The main campaign wraps up pretty quickly, and while the endless mode is fun, it doesn’t totally make up for the somewhat limited track selection. Still, for a free game, it’s a solid little time killer great for short sessions when you just want to zone out and nail some satisfying bike flips without committing to a big, complicated game.
