Ask.com Toolbar

If you're using Windows Vista, you might have noticed the built in Toolbar that sidebar gadget that lets you launch programs, check your favorites, or open files quickly. While it's handy, sometimes it can start acting up, freezing your system or just getting in the way. If you're looking to remove it, you’ve got a few options.

One of the easiest ways is to use a trusted cleanup tool like Ad Aware or Spybot. These free programs scan your system for damaged or unwanted files and help clean things up. Just download one, run a full scan, and let it detect any issues with the Toolbar or related add ons. Once the scan is done, you can safely remove the problematic parts like sidebar widgets, images, or hidden code that might be slowing down your PC.

If the Toolbar is making your computer sluggish, you can also try clearing temporary files to free up some memory. Go to the Control Panel, click on "Add/Remove Programs," and look for the Toolbar entry. Select it and hit uninstall. Sometimes, though, it’s not that simple especially if the Toolbar came bundled with other software. In that case, a dedicated removal tool might do a better job.

After you’ve removed the Toolbar, it’s a good idea to restart your computer and check if everything runs smoother. If you ever want the features back, you can reinstall it but for many Vista users, removing unnecessary toolbars helps speed things up and keeps the system running clean.
