AM2R Another Metroid 2 Remake

What makes AM2R stand out is how it blends nostalgia with innovation. The game introduces brand new areas, enemies, and abilities like slick wall jumps and smooth ledge grabs that weren’t in the 1991 original. It borrows some of the best quality of life improvements from later Metroid titles, especially Metroid: Zero Mission, making exploration feel more intuitive and movement more responsive. The map system is clearer, controls are tighter, and the pacing is just… better. It’s the kind of remake that respects its roots while confidently carving its own identity.

Even if you’ve never played a Metroid game before, AM2R is an absolute joy. The exploration is rewarding, the action is fast and fluid, and the atmosphere is classic Metroid tense, mysterious, and totally immersive. It’s no wonder this passion project gained such a dedicated following before Nintendo issued a takedown (though it’s still findable with a little digging).
