If you're into horror games that actually get under your skin, you've gotta check out the free demo for 9 Childs St. It's a first person horror experience in development by N4bA for Windows, and honestly, it’s one of the most atmospheric and nerve wracking demos I’ve played in a while. Even though it's still a work in progress, the game does an amazing job of making you feel like a scared kid vulnerable, curious, and totally unprepared for what’s lurking in the shadows.

You play as a child who starts noticing seriously weird stuff happening in the abandoned house across the street. Rumor has it an old toy maker used to live there, and let’s just say… the place isn’t exactly empty. Armed with nothing but a flashlight, you decide to sneak over and investigate. Big mistake? Probably. But oh, what a ride.

The controls are classic PC style keyboard and mouse so you’ll be creeping through dark rooms, turning doorknobs, and shining your light into corners you really wish you hadn’t. And yeah, it gets intense. The sound design alone is enough to make you jump. Creaking floors, distant whispers, things moving just outside the beam of your torch… it’s the kind of horror that sticks with you.

Even though the demo is short, it doesn’t waste a second. It’s tense, it’s moody, and it absolutely nails that feeling of dread. If you’re a fan of games like Northbury Grove or Fears To Fathom, this is right up your alley.

The best part? You can download it totally for free. The devs are letting players try it out without paying a dime, though they do give you the option to throw a few bucks their way if you want to support the project. Considering how promising this demo is, I really hope N4bA keeps going this could turn into something special.

Seriously, if you love horror games that rely on atmosphere and tension rather than cheap jump scares, don’t sleep on 9 Childs St. This is horror done right.
